Song Title: Godsend

One of the early IA songs I wrote in my room with my guitar and my dodgy copy of Fruityloops! :) I wanted this one to be simple and powerful and to have a kind of Devin Townsend feel to it in the verses. Using a lot of chorus and delay plays a big part in getting that "80's" sound as I call it, and that was definately what I was after. Then again, I'm always after as "80's" a sound I can get!!

I must stress straight away that the title 'Godsend' is in absoultely no way a reference to a divine! The word 'God' is commonly used in a purely Einsteinian sense. This basically means using the word 'God' as a noun for the unexplainable. Some people believe good things happen because a physical or personal God made them happen. As an atheist I certainly don't, but I do like to sometimes use the word 'God' as a means to describe something that cannot be explained. As Stephen Hawking once (rather mischevieously) wrote: "...for then we should know the mind of God". Of course, only the glib or pious observer could take Hawking's statement as advocation of the existence of a divine. I, like many others I am sure, use the word for the same purposes. Either way, this is just a simple song about two people, not 'A Brief History Of Time'!

This is typically a relationship song. Nothing new or original in that sense. It is simply about how the feeling that meeting someone who is great and can change your life can somehow feel God sent. In my case, certainly not sent by some omnicient physical God but having arrived to me by events or circumstances that are unexplainable. Causality is essentially the reason why anything happens to us. There is (in my opinion at least) no devine guidance or instruction to anything we do or anything that happens to us, but 'Godsend's' do happen to all of us occasionally. Things that are good happen to us, and we don't know why...but should we really care either way? Lets just enjoy it while it lasts!

- Hammy

Come, I've been watching you
Cold, from across the room
Eyes, shine right back at me
Feel, tonight was meant to be

Senses are brewing
In this cauldron of tension
Impasse for rejection
Believe to be seeing

Godsend - I'm gonna stick with you tonight
Godsend - We're gonna do what feels right

Life, becomes much clearer now
Hold, the one to call my own
See, the difference you've made in me
Tell, the world's she's set me free

Trusting is lasting
and longing to hold you now
I stand as one
From beyond the gaze
The impressions give something God sent

Godsend - I'm gonna stick with you tonight
Godsend - We're gonna do what feels right

If looks could kill I'd die here
