Inertia Avenue @ Bannermans, June 22nd 2007

After the set had been cleared, another 4-piece band climbed abaord this famous old stage. Within a matter of seconds it was perfectly obvious why Inertia Avenue are closing out the night. They are simply in a league of their own. The bar area empties imediately and everyone moves towards the stage to witness the wall of sound unleashed upon us.

This band takes no prisoners. It stops to breathe, but not much more than that. The tight guitars reminicent of so much of the stadium rock from which it takes its influence is delivered with the same tireless energies those bands were famous for.

If these guys were to play the main stage at the next Glastonbury or Reading festival they would blow the crowds away and more than likely make the professional competition look mediocre.

Drummers accross the venue looked on in awe as the man behind the kit rattled out noises that suggested te use of more than four limbs. Meanwhile, the frontman forced his voice up and down like a roller coaster as the bass and keys added that vital edge which gave the overall sound so much vitality. It was a meticulously executed performance. There was just no escaping the raw energy gripping you from the stage.

The only question remaining is whether they will be able to transfer this energy onto an album when they get signed to a major label. And signed they will be, without a shadow of a doubt. Inertia Avenue is going nowhere but up!

Inertia Avenue @ Eildon Centre, June 12th 2007, Coldstream

Now, if there was a band that didn't somehow fit the bill, it would be Inertia Avenue. Certainly not because they were bad or that they shouldn't be there, but purely because you were left wondering why we had sat through purgatory before an iron-clad fist smacked us in the face, the fist being Inertia Avenue and the smack being pure rock. It certainly warmed the evening up for all. The band had a commanding stage presence which was complimented by there sheer ability to 'wow' the onlookers. A short set, but with a magnitude that gave revellers, undoubtedly, a sore head in the morning, albeit no bad thing!

As the crowd moved forward, the interest became aparent. The sea of faces lighting up to the bouncing tunes with a loud crashing of distorted guitars gave an unequivocal acceptance to the quality of the music they were hearing, many of which were experiencing for the first time. Definately a band to see again and a good way to shed those inhibitions about pure, unadulterated rock.
